Mary has been battling breast cancer for the last 11 years and just last year doctors discovered that the cancerous cells had moved to her liver. She passed on earlier this morning. Prime Minister Raila Odinga has mourned the Deputy Chair of NCIC describing her as a "peace ambassador". The PM said she was determined to ensure that the next General Election would be conducted in a peaceful atmosphere. Only two weeks ago, Mary Onyango took the PM through the NCIC Commission's plan to ensure the next elections are held in an atmosphere of peace and trust, a feat she believed would be achieved through the Kenya Kwanza Campaign. Cancer is a disease that is killing approximately 18000 Kenyans annually. That is about 50 people dying on a daily basis, from cancer.
